What does United Services of America have in common with Spirit Airlines, Vizio and Honest Tea? All have been named to the 2011 Inc. 5000, a prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. This is the fifth year Inc. magazine has compiled the list; previous honorees include Zappos, Oracle and Zipcar.
“This is a tremendous honor for United Services and it validates the hard work of our entire team,” said United Services President Paul Senecal. “We have strategically plotted our growth since starting the business in 2001, and it’s definitely paid off.”
United Services ranked 1259 out of the 5000 companies chosen. According to Inc., the companies on this year’s list report having created 350,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $366 billion, up 14 percent from last year. The growth is impressive particularly considering the challenges of doing business in today’s volatile economy.
“Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” says Inc. magazine Editor Jane Berentson.
Over the past year, United has added 45 accounts to its roster, bringing the total number of clients served to 350. The company cleans more than 800 locations in the tri-state area. With United’s growth, Affineco has been able to increase its revenue by 20 percent.
“Commercial cleaning and maintenance remains a very competitive industry, especially in the southern Connecticut/New York market. Our continued growth is definitely related to our green cleaning program. While other companies are now starting to promote the use of sustainable practices and products, we have established ourselves as the leader in this market. That, more than anything else has helped define our business,” said Senecal.
