The pandemic has reinforced the importance of clean work spaces, especially now as more people head back to the office. A recent study revealed the office spots with the most bacteria. Here’s a list, starting with the dirtiest:

  • Computer mouse
  • Teapot
  • Refrigerator
  • Laptop
  • Bathroom lock
  • Hand sanitizer bottle
  • Printer
  • Light switch
  • Kitchen cupboard

A WebMD report adds two more: your desk, which it says has about 400 times more germs than a toilet seat, and your office phone, which can average 25,000 germs per square inch.

AffinEco crews are trained to identify high-touch areas and, when included in the specs for a job, clean and disinfectant them. “Since the early days of the pandemic, we have had all our workers laser-focused on high-touch points throughout all the facilities we maintain,” said Sandino Cifuentes, AffinEco vice president and general manager.

“We have very effective cleaning and disinfectant products, which our employees use to ensure all high-touch areas are cleaned and sanitized each and every day,” as requested by AffinEco’s customers, Cifuentes said.

AffinEco crews also zero in on areas like door handles, elevator buttons, door knobs and push bars.

“Our employees know how important it is to clean and disinfect these areas. Even for their own safety, they want to make sure everything they come into contact with is property disinfected.”

Jorge Jimenez, vice president and general manager of AffinEco’s Stamford division, says communication is key.

“We tell our employees these areas need your attention. We follow through to make sure they did the work. Then we inspect that it was done to our specifications.  Finally, we contact the client to make sure they’re happy with the results.”

With more workers returning to the office, some large tenants are asking AffinEco to disinfect several times a day – morning, late afternoon and night – to stay ahead of any contamination.

“At Stamford Towers, we continue to wipe high-touch areas three to four times daily,” said Lisa Iannelli-Winkler, a senior real estate manager with CBRE and AffinEco customer.
